Consulting
vs. Contracting
Consulting:
Consultants
work as permanent employees of a firm that continually places them on
projects with that firm's clientele. Consultants enjoy every privilege
and benefit that a typical corporate employee would, yet they are not
constrained by any one set of job specifications or requirements.
Instead, consultants work in a variety of environments and gain a
diverse array of skills that enhance their job security by keeping them
marketable and in demand.
Contracting:
Contractors,
as opposed to consultants, work on a project-to-project basis. They
usually operate with the assistance of a placement company in order to
locate their next project, but they are not employees of that company.
Because they have no true employer, contractors enjoy none of the
benefits a consultant would, including job security (a contractor is not
assured of a new project once his/her current contract expires).
Permanent
Position Employment:
Permanent
Position Employees work for and within a single company. Such employees
are typically locked into narrow job specifications and are committed to
performing particular tasks day in and day out. They do not enjoy the
flexibility of a consultant, who is able to train in a variety of skills
when not engaged in contractual work with a client of the firm.
TTG
Consulting:
As
TTG employees, Talus Consultants enjoy the benefits of health, life and
disability insurance, paid holidays, and three weeks of personal time
off per year, as well as the security of knowing they will be employed
beyond the length of a current project. TTG Account Representatives
continually work to match a Talus Consultant's experience with client
projects that serve to enhance the consultant's marketability and
develop their skills.
Also,
as a TTG employee, you can participate in our 401(k) retirement and
profit sharing plan, as well as our ambitious educational reimbursement
program, among other company benefits (see Benefits).
